The Professional Manager Programme
- What is the Professional Manager Programme?
The Professional Manager Programme is a modular skills development programme designed for those holding, or being developed for, a full time management post.
The programme is customised and delivered in-house to groups of up to 25 managers. It is not formally assessed and therefore does not offer a recognised qualification. Its aim is to provide managers with the learning they need to achieve business results and win the respect of their colleagues.
- What does programme involve?
The programme consists of 11 x one-day core modules as follows:

Module 2: The Corporate Context
Module 3: Achieving Results
Module 4: Improving Productivity
Module 5: Maximising Resources
Module 6: Creating Customer Satisfaction
Module 7: Securing Workforce Capability
Module 8: Managing Performance
Module 9: Developing Talent
Module 10: Constructive Team Cultures
Module 11: Sound Decision-Making
There are a further 3 optional modules:
Module 12: Delivering Projects
Module 13: The Leadership of Change
Module 14: Influencing Organisational Culture
Delegate briefing, review and evaluation processes are also included in the standard package
- What are the programme aims and outcomes?
Aim:
To enable aspiring, recently promoted and existing managers gain generic, professional management skills.
Outcomes:
As a result of this programme, participants will be able to:
• Manage their role, key performance indicators and personal development needs effectively.
• Demonstrate a professional level of day-to-day management practice.
• Manage their people effectively and win the respect of those upon whom their success depends.
• Draw upon a broad basis of management theory to inform their management approach and decision-making.
• Understand the results required of them and be able to make a valuable contribution to their organisation.
